Pearls of Wisdom: Notes c/o Hanady
December 2, 2008
Bismillah.
My beloved sister Hanady took the Zaytuna Distance Learning course “Disciplining the Soul” taught by Sidi Yahya Rhodus, and shared these beautiful gems. Insha Allah they are of benefit.

From Imam Ghazali’s ‘Disciplining the Soul’ as related by Yahya Rhodus
Pearl’s of Wisdom #1
The Imam (Yahya Rhodus) makes 3 points about the essence of good
character:
1) Seek reconciliation with those who avoid you
2) Give to those that withhold from you
3) Forgive those that deal with you unjustly
Pearl’s of Wisdom #2
It’s not praiseworthy in Islam not to have desire or indifference
You shouldn’t erase your desire but desire should be in conforming
with what the Rasool (may peace and blessing be upon him) brought
Desire prayer and love prayer
Desire righteousness and love righteousness
Desire servitude and love servitude
Guide us to the straight path, finer than a hair, sharper than a sword
